Vectors in Inkscape etc
Inkscape allows the creation of vector images from pretty much any image file.
Open Inkscape and load an image.
Select the image and then in the menu select Path > Trace Bitmap.
You will probably need to adjust Brightness cutoff and/or Threshold to get your trace to look just right.
So then do this.
You can do this over and over, with the
You will need to save this file. (It will be an SVG that Blender can import.)
Open this file in Blender and then you can export it as a DXF file into an autocad (Dassault) emulator. Then do what you wish.
All manner of edits can ensue.

This can just go on forever. Especially if you use BLAM in Blender to set pure XYZ coordinates.
Perhaps the ideal thing is just to have a great artist like my son Joseph Banks to draw it in 2d.
(OMG there are so many more steps.....Not up to it. right now.)

Vertices. ... To create a new vertex, change to EditMode, hold down CTRL, and click with the LMB. Of course, as a computer screen is two-dimensional, Blender can't determine all three vertex coordinates from one mouse click, so the new vertex is placed at the depth of the 3D cursor 'into' the screen.

Downloading Inkscape tonight. Hope it works live every other source program.
The forums say "If the content contained in the PDF is already in vector format, import it into Inkscape. Save as a SVG and import the SVG into Blender."
